Stan Skrzeszewski, a historian, poet, and a member of The Canadian Polish Research, presented The fascinating story of the Polish Soldiers who fought in the War of 1812. The lecture took place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7pm at the Consulate General of Poland in Toronto.

Black Ribbon Day

An extremely interesting round table discussion on the Black Ribbon Day movement and the launch of an exceptional book on this topic titled Black Ribbon Day by Dr Edward Soltys took place on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 7:00pm at the University of Toronto. Special guests were as follows: Markus Hess, Marek Celinski, Laas Leivat and Edward Soltys.


On November 19, 2015 roku at 7:00pm, we presented a second meeting organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of our organization. This time our special guest was Krystyna Starczak-Kozłowska, a journalist, writer and columnist well-known in the Canadian Polonia. We launched her newest book Kanada uskrzydlona polskością that was published under our auspicies.

The Canadian Polish Research Institute and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland presented at the Toronto International Book Fair, November 14-16, 2014 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Our booth was located in The International Pavilion.

At the Fair, the best and well-known Polish-Canadian writers presented and signed their books: Eva Stachniak, Andrew Borkowski, Jowita Bydlowska and Ania Szado.

The Canadian Polish Research Institute displayed its English-language publications, including the newest Black Ribbon Day by Dr Edward Soltys (2014) and An Ordinary Move. Memoirs of Polish Immigrants to Canada 1988-2012 eds. J. Kozak & J. Lustanski (2014).

A launch of an exceptional book translated and edited by Prof. Richard Sokoloski titled The Latest Poles. Reflections of Polish Immigrants to Canada in the 1980s took place on September 27, 2014 (Saturday) at 6:00pm at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland at 2603 Lakeshore Blvd. West in Toronto. The book is a translation of a memoir volume Ale i słaby nie zginie published previously by The Canadian Polish Research Institute.

Canadian Trek of Polish Culture

Along with the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland and the ECHO Research Institute, we organized a presentation of the book Canadian Trek of Polish Culture by Dr Jadwiga Kaczmarzyk-Byszewska. The event took take place on March 21, 2014 , at 7:00pm, at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto, 2603 Lakeshore Blvd.


Conference on Polonia 2013

An interdisciplinary conference "Between Past and Future: Culture, Heritage and Community Development of Polonia in Towns and Small Cities" took place from July 25-28, 2013 in Sydney, NS, Canada. The conference was organized by Cape Breton University and the Canadian Polish Research Institute. More information on the conference website.


Women's College Research Institute

The Canadian Polish Research Institute and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland co-organized a presentation of the book How the Polish Created Canada by Jacek Kozak, a historian and journalist. The event took place on Friday, October 26, 2012. The meeting was hosted by consul Grzegorz Jopkiewicz and Alina Grygierczyk.


And another meeting dedicated to a recently published book on Polish Canadians. The book by Dr Jadwiga Kaczmarzyk-Byszewska is titled Gościńcami Kanady na tropach polskiej kultury. The interview with the author took place on September 14, 2012 at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland.

Women's College Research Institute

Polish graduate migrants in England - stepping stone mobility - this is the title of the presentation by Agnieszka Szewczyk, a doctoral candidate from Loughborough University (United Kingdom). The Canadian Polish Research Institute and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland co-organized this event that took place on Friday, April 20, 2012.


September 17-18 2011: The annual Polish Fesitval at Roncevalles in Toronto took place. We had a book station there as well. Not only did we sell our book publications, but also promoted the Memoir Competition.


A presentation of the book Język polonijny w Kanadzie by dr Joanna Lustanski took place on Tuesday, April 26 2011, at 7pm, at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland at 2603 Lakeshore Blvd. West in Toronto. The introduction was carried out by consul Wojciech Dzięgiel and dr Maria Budziakowska.
